What a year! In 2024, rapid advancements in AI reshaped content creation, audience engagement, and operational efficiency, presenting both opportunities and challenges for broadcasters. Major AI platforms launched transformative updates: OpenAI’s GPT-4o reduced inaccuracies and became freely accessible; Google released two updates to Gemini; and Meta and X introduced new tools. These developments expanded options for content creators, offering faster and more efficient production capabilities while reducing issues like hallucinations that had plagued the platforms.
This year also saw breakthroughs in AI-driven content creation. Tools like Udio and Suno’s text-to-music platforms, OpenAI and Adobe’s text-to-video generators, and Google’s podcast-generation tool, NotebookLM, enhanced broadcasters’ ability to produce diverse content. AI has now become invaluable for tasks like idea generation, writing copy, and transcription, particularly for small teams.
However, challenges persist: misinformation from AI hallucinations, public skepticism toward AI-driven content, and ethical concerns over compensating creators for work used to train AI systems.
In 2025, we will continue to explore new ways to use AI to enhance human creativity, not replace it. With increasing competition from digital marketers and entertainment platforms aggressively adopting advanced AI tools, broadcasters must integrate AI responsibly to serve and inform our communities. As trusted voices, authenticity and public trust will remain at the heart of our work.
See you in 2025!

AI Santa Is Ready for a Christmas Chat
California-based video-AI startup Tavus has released an AI Santa for users to interact with via video chat. Users can enable their microphone and video to tell Old St. Nick whether they’ve been naughty or nice and share their wish list. (During my visit, AI Santa said he’ll have no problem delivering gifts to everyone this year and that my indiscretions in sneaking Christmas cookies would not land me on the naughty list.)
